It's a while ago, but I am sharing what we did when we had a day off in Tahiti. We drove around the island by a car counterclockwise.

We first visited Arahurahu Marae. Marae is a place to undertake religious ceremonies.

I like these kind of statues.

We finally felt "we are in the southern island!" when we were a little bit away from Papeete.

Maraa Caves next.

The air around the cave was really cool and moist.

We met local high school students who were there for a study trip. I wonder why boys were so few.

I saw a lot of people enjoying kayaks.

Gauguin Museum was closed due to the renewal. But it's alright as I heard this place is relatively dissapointing since the exhibitions are all replicas.

Baguettes that we found at a small local supermarket. It was about 50yen. Prices are lower when we go away from Papeete. (A baguette in Pepeete is about 80yen).

From this place we could see the constriction between Tahiti Nui and Tahiti Iti.

After visiting Arahoho Blowhole in the heavy rain, we went back to Tahiti Nui, then the Faarumai Waterfalls.

There is a trecking road which leads to two other waterfalls, but we skipped it as we were not that strong.

Venus Point. Boats from Europe entered in this place, Matavai Harbor in the Age of Exploration. Captain Cook of course.

The grave of King Pomare.

Local people came to the beach next to the monument.

I am glad that we could drive around the island. Now we don't have to say "what we did in Tahiti was Immigration and Custom Clearances". !!!!!

I decided to have my hair cut which I had wanted to do for a long time. I went to a salon close to our hotel. It was a little more expensive than I planned. However, since the French stylist there seemed to be well skilled technician, I decided to stay at the place. Memory to be in a French terytory.

The tea served while I was waiting. Really fancy!

She is the French stylist. She did very well although she rearly cuts Asian's straight hair.
