昨日の午後、ある程度片付を済ませ、今日はシドニー回航準備。セールの付け替えがメイン。人数が多いのでサクサクっと終わりました。We changed the boat to "the delivery spec", mainly worked on the main sail change following the cleaning yesterday. It finished so fast as we had many hands.








初めて知ったのですが、タスマニアには有名なワイナリーがたくさんあるそうで、どのワインもおいしかったです。そしてレースが終わっていい気分＆酔いがまわってさらにいい気分の大人ってのは気前がいい！ちょびっとずつ飲む試飲でちびちびやってるのにしびれを切らしたお兄様たちが、ボトル買ってこーい！と言ってくれたり、おいしい牡蠣をまたまた調達してきてくれたり。そして、酔っ払って見ず知らずのおばちゃんと生演奏をBGMに踊り、さらに酔いが回ったどこぞの座長もいたり。おいしく楽しい夜でした。
I didn't know that Tasmania was famous for wine. All the wines that we tasted were great. However, everyone could not stand drinking little by little, and also started feeling so nice, they asked me "go and buy some bottles!!"  What a fun night.

7時にタスマン島を通過したようです。ストームベイまで行って撮影するつもりでしたが海況が悪いため、 ダーウェント川の入り口で出迎えることにしました。
Bengal passed Tasman Island at 7am. I was going to meet them in the storm bay but since the condition is not good for a small boat we decided to meet her at the entrance if River Derwent.

ワイルドオーツのフィニッシュ直前の様子を見に、アンディがSouth Armというところに連れて行ってくれました。
Andy took me to South Arm to see Wild Oats right before the finish.



フィニッシュに向けて川を北上する入り口付近です。フィニッシュまでのコースを考えるとこの当たりで東側の陸に取っ付かないと後々困る＆水深がとても深いということで、どの船もこのSouth Armの先端をかすめていくらしいので絶好の観覧ポイントです。市内から車を走らせること20分ほど。ビーチの脇に駐車し、ビーチをひたすら南に歩きます。途中反対から歩いてくる人がいたので、聞いてみたらどうやら既にワイルドオーツは通過してしまったようでした。。。残念。最後にウェブをチェックしたあと風が上がったみたいでした。。。
When we were walking along the beach and heading toward the end of South Arm, there were several people coming from the opposite direction. We talked to them and found out Wild Oats already past......well I was OK because I really enjoyed the scenery there and even the one on the way.

残念でしたが、そこまでのドライブもとっても楽しかったです。山と海の景色を両方楽しめるとってもいいところでした。もちろんビーチも。で、気を取り直してドックでワイルドオーツの到着を待つことに。ちょうどのタイミングで、たくさんの観覧ボートに囲まれながら入港してきました。
The we headed to the dock to see the arrival of the boat. Right after I arrived at the dock, the boat came in to the dock.

明るくなったあとで最高のタイミング。ドックでは関係者、市民などなどたくさんの人が自己レコードを塗り替えたワイルドオーツの到着を待ちわびていました。
It was a good timing as it got light. Family of the team, the race related people, and also people in Hobart came to the dock to see the arrival of the Wild Oats which broke the record of the race which is their own.



アナウンスとともに入港。拍手が沸き起こります。
She arrived with the announcement and people greeted the crew with applause





撮影を終えて海から帰ってきた矢部さんに遭遇。アンディと矢部さん久しぶりの再会。ニッチャレに関わったりと日本でセーリングの仕事をやっていた人なので知っている方も多いのでは？私はここのお宅にこの2日間お世話になっています。
I met Yabe-san who just came back from the shooting. He met Andy after a long absence. Andy worked for Nippon Challange, so some of you may recognize him. I stay at his house these two days.


で・・・アンディのご両親の家でクリスマスパーティーをやるというので図々しくお邪魔しました。ご両親の家はレースのフィニッシュが見渡せるところ！
Then.....I joined the Christmas Party at Andy's parents house from which we can see the finish line of the race! Great view!!



2着のラガマフィンが見れると思ってたらちょうど到着したときにはフィニッシュしおえてメインセールを下ろしているところでした。またまた残念。
We were going to see Ragamuffin Loyal's finish from their house, but the time when we arrived there, she already finished and the crew were putting down the main sail.....second time today that we misseed the boats!!

今年はクリスマスらしいこと全くしませんでしたが、こんなところでクリスマスを味わえるとは。
おいしいターキーとグレイビーと野菜ごちそうさまでした。初めて赤のスパークリングワインなるものを飲みました。
I didn't do anything for Christmas this year, so it was really nice to be at the party. Turkey, gravy, and he vegetables were all tasty. I also enjoyed the red sparkling wine for the first time.


クリスマスプディングというものらしいです。何ヶ月も前に作ったものだとか。
These are called Christmas pudding. People usually make this many months before Christmas, they told me.


ビーチ沿いの公園まで散歩に出かけました。海からの急な坂道の上にある家なので絶景です。が、踏ん張らないと一気に坂の下まで転がっていきそうです。
We went for a walk down to the park along the river. The view from the road in front of the house is so lovely. But I really have to try to stay on my feet, otherwise I will roll down the hill.


シドニーも思ったより涼しかったですが、タスマニアも朝晩とっても涼しいです。でも昼間は太陽のおかげであったかいです。それでも海水はとっても冷たい！
It was colder than we thought in Sydney, but it is too here in Tasmania especially in the morning and the night. Freezing! It is relatively warm during day time thanks to the sun. The sea water is really cold though.


明日のフィニッシュに向けて、アンディの奥さんに手伝ってもらっておにぎりを作りました。タスマニアのビールとシャンパンも冷やして準備万端。
I prepared rice balls for the crew with the help of Andy's wife. Plus cold beer and champagne are all set!


明日はタスマン島あたりまで出向いて、そこからベンガルと併走する予定です。風がころころ変わるのでETAもころころ変わって出港時間がなかなか決定できません！
I'm going to sail to the Tasman Island with Yabe-san and will sail along Bengal 7. It is really hard to decide when to leave because the ETA at Tasman Island changes a lot because of the shift of wind.


ところで、全く関係ない話ですが、今日ドライブの途中でごみ収集車を見かけました。日本では人がトラックから降りてはゴミを回収し、トラックを追いかけ。。。。というのが普通ですが、なんとトラックからアームがニョキっと出て、ゴミ箱をはさみ、そのまま中身をトラックの中に放り込むという何とも画期的な収集方法でした。これならドライバーだけでいいわけですね。もちろんゴミ箱は規格品である必要があるわけで、各家庭に政府から支給されてるようです。

さて、スタートを見送ってほっとしたのもつかの間、ホバートに移動です。
Jetstarは信じられないほどの長さの列がチェックインカウンターの前にできていました。
搭乗時間直前にゲートが変わるというハプニングもありつつ、大幅に遅れることなく飛行機に乗り込みました。
周りを見渡すと何となくレース関係者がほとんどのような感じです。

Without enjoying much time by myself, I headed to the airport to fly to Hobart. There was an unbelievablly long cue in front of the check in counter. Hopefully, I was in time. It looked most people on the flight were race related people.




ホームステイさせてもらうアンディにピックアップをしてもらってから、RYCTを見学。そのあと街に出てさっそくマネージャー業再開。仕事しつつ街をうろつきました。
ホバート、とっても素敵なところです。北海道を思わせます。
After being picked up by Andy who has me stay at his house, we went to RYCT, then walked around the town and work to prepare for the arrival of the team.
I really like this town, it remids me of Hokkaido.

こちらはレース艇が係留されるドック。出迎え準備は万端のようです。知った顔も既に到着していました。
The dock where the race boats will be moored. 





ここの一番沖側（写真奥）にベンガルが係留される予定。ベンガルと同サイズの船が到着順に並ぶそうです。
Bengal will be moored at the shore side of this area. The boats which are about same size with us will line up here in the order finishing the race.


ワイルドオーツの到着を観に行く予定です。寝るな自分。
I'm going to see the arrival of Wild Oats in 3-4 hours. You can't fall asleep, Mayuko!
